Client Spotlight: Michael Quagliano

“Why do you love golf?” I ask. After pausing for a moment, careful to answer with the same precision as when he’s hitting a 6 iron stiff to the pin, Michael Quagliano, one of Westchester’s greatest golf prospects answers: “Personal responsibility. It’s a game where’s it all up to you. You decide how much time to put in and most of all it’s up to you to deliver. No one else.” And Michael has.

After winning the 2004 NY State High School Golf Championship, Michael headed to Duke University, one of the nation’s best collegiate golf programs.  After a year and a half, Michael feels that he is ready to make a big move this spring. “I feel that I have really been getting better as a player, but it just hasn’t showed in my scoring yet. But I am doing everything I can to make that happen.”

Michael first came to Altheus in the winter of 2003 to begin a golf specific training program and I asked him what benefits he has noticed. “Altheus has allowed me to do something with my body and my golf swing that I wanted to do before but I just wasn’t able to. I have a lot more distance now but more importantly my technique is much better.” While Michael’s strength training continues at Duke he had some nice words for the Altheus coaching staff. “There’s not a workout that goes by that I don’t miss the Altheus coaches. They’re incredible and they always push me the hardest.” Well, Not surprisingly, he usually spends a good amount of his school vacations in the Altheus gym.

While Michael’s dream is to play on the PGA tour he also realizes the challenges ahead of him. “I understand how competitive it is and so I try and push myself in all areas of my life. Balancing school with golf has always been an important family value for me.”

Michael is currently studying sociology at Duke.  He also harbors a great love for music. Being a musician myself I had to ask him who his favorite artists were. “That’s the best question I have ever been asked in an interview,” Michael says with a laugh. “I actually listen to a lot of Jack Johnson at the range. It’s perfect for breaking up the same routine.” Michele Branch and John Mayer were also on the list.

All of us at Altheus would like to wish Michael the very best as we undoubtedly believe he will be on many a leader board, but most importantly he will always be at the top of the leader board of life. Never before have we met a more balanced and genuine man, filled with class and integrity and truly destined for the highest possible level. It has been a continuing pleasure for all of us here to be a part of Michael’s journey and inevitable success.
